Our Spotlight Author for October 2005

Dear Readers,
Having just returned from the Romance Writers of Australia's annual conference in Melbourne, I was pleased to find in my mailbox an invitation to be the first overseas romance spotlight author.
Naturally, I accepted. What better way to reach potential readers!
Living on the west coast of Australia where I do, and with my work being published in the UK, it's sometimes hard to know where my novels end up. I do receive letters from many countries of the world, though.
Although I've written 3 modern novels in the past, generally I write historical fiction. My publications are split between two styles. They are regional saga for Pocket Books UK. Recently released is THE STONECUTTER'S DAUGHTER. My sagas are grittier types of stories, where the heroine struggles through a considerable amount of hardship before she finds happiness and love. Readers have told me they enjoy the historical details woven into them.
Into the second category falls my historical romances, all of which have been published by library hardcover publishers. The latest is AMARANTH MOON, which was recently released by Severn House, UK.
When people ask me which of the two I prefer writing I can truthfully say I enjoy them equally. In regional saga I'm able to utilize my sense of drama and adventure. Historical romance needs a lighter touch, and allows my sense of humor to surface. I can safely say that, for me, one seems to balance out the other on an emotional level.
If you haven't read any of my books I do hope you will try them, and enjoy them.
